Part 2: Importing/Getting Inventory to Verde

Your product can arrive at Verde’s facilities in any number of ways.  Some clients like to arrange this part themselves, while others like Verde to take control of it from the very start.  Whatever your comfort range is, Verde can accommodate you.

  1. Arranging the freight to Verde:  Verde’s dock hours are 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. Monday thru Friday.  Please forward this information along to the freight company moving your inventory for you.

    • All inbound shipments require a dock appointment or the freight company can be turned away.

    • Failure to make a dock appointment will result in a $150 fee.

    • To make a dock appointment, please visit the Client Area of our website for a scheduling calendar.

  2. Duties/Taxes:  For any inbound international shipments, you will (most likely) have duties/taxes payable before the delivery of your inventory to Verde.  Please be aware of this, as Verde does not pay duties/taxes on behalf of our clients.

  3. US Customs Broker: Verde has its own US Customs Broker.  If your freight forwarder needs assistance with your inbound freight, we can employ them to help.  Any charges from Verde’s broker with regard to your inbound shipment are billable to the client.

  4. HTS Codes:  When a product comes into the US, it is assigned a generic HTS code (Harmonized Tariff Schedule).  Each product has a duty/tax rate assigned to it based on the HTS code.  You can research your own product’s HTS code here:  http://hts.usitc.gov/.  Also, please note that an HS Code is not the same thing as an HTS Code.

  5. Picking Up Freight at Port:  Some manufacturers will ship your inventory to a US Port and then release the goods for you to deal with.  Verde can help arrange freight pick-up at any Port for you, as long as all paperwork is in order from your suppliers and freight forwarders.  Any delays and/or resulting charges from the Port are billable to the client.

    • Verde can arrange LTL or container pick-up at any port, as long as Verde is notified prior to the vessel arriving at the port.  Drayage charges due to pick-up lag time are billable to the client, as well as transportation charges from the port to Verde’s facilities.
