How To Ship for the Holidays

As the full force of the holiday shipping season is upon us here at Verde, we want to make sure you are aware of potential delivery scam issues we are hearing of from the freight companies so far and we want you to be aware of this and what you can do: In larger cities, thieves are following delivery trucks and stealing packages off front porches of homes. Packages are being stolen from the delivery trucks while the drivers are making a delivery on foot. Amazon branded cartons are particular good targets, as are any other well-known branded cartons with brand markings on them. These are sad examples of the reality of society. Even if we file a lost package claim, the freight company will show it was delivered correctly, so the claim will not be honored. So, what can you do to combat this ahead of time? If you have a valuable shipment going out, input an "Indirect Signature Required" or "Direct Signature Required" in the COMMENTS section of your unprocessed order. There is no need to do this on all orders, as lost packages are rare anyway. This is simply a safeguard for the rare occasion that you may need. Indirect Signature means a signature is required for the delivery person to leave the package. Indirect means that anyone can sign for it. The delivery person will have a name and an address where the delivery was made. Residential deliveries only. The cost is $2.00 from the freight companies to do this. Direct Signature means a signature is required for the delivery person ONLY from the person who is listed on the delivery label. Residential and Commercial deliveries. The cost is $2.00 from the freight companies to do this. These are two easy ways to safeguard your valuable holiday shipments and avoid a loss and hassle of filing a claim during this crazy time of the year.
